When I was a child I had been using to spend summer at the "dacha" of my grandparents. One evening I, 12-years boy, was sitting on the coach reading a book. Through the open door of my room was seen TV set with some nordic movie. Suddenly I saw a picture on the screen. The main character was standing quietly on a seashore. There was a dawn, a transparent light was spreading everywhere and mountains were reflecting in still water across the fjord. I was so amazed and even petrified of this scene that I immediately took my watercolors and began to paint, trying to catch this fantastic image.

From this moment I became to be fascinated by northern nature and was captured by its beauty forever. But at that time, in the middle of 80-ies in the Soviet Union, behind the iron curtain, my dream to see it once by my own eyes was looking absolutely impossible.

One day in august, when I was in Northern Norway, I took a ride on my car and stopped it in one mile from a town when I had been living. I went to the shore for a walk. And instantly I realized that this moment I am exactly in my childish dream. It had embodied. And I understood I am, despite all my questions to myself, all the hard thoughts about my future, about future of my homeland, a happy person.
